Setting up TaskBerry as a freelancer

TaskBerry was designed with freelancers in mind. Here's how to set it up to track client work, log hours, and generate reports your clients can actually read.

One label per client

Create a label for each client you work with. Every task you add gets that label, so your time is attributed correctly in the monthly overview and in the client report PDF.

Log hours with work sessions

After a block of client work, open a work session and log what you did. You set the start and end time, link tasks, and record minutes per task. This feeds directly into your monthly report.

Set up recurring tasks for retainers

For fixed retainer clients, create recurring tasks that appear automatically each week or month. This keeps your standard work on the board without manual re-entry.

Export monthly client reports

The client report PDF shows billable hours, tasks completed, and an AI-generated value summary per label. You can edit the summary before exporting. Send it directly to your client at the end of the month.

Use the value summary to justify your rate

The AI-generated value summary describes what you delivered in plain language. Not just hours, but outcomes. Use it in your invoice email or during rate reviews to show the impact of your work.

These features work together. Labels → sessions → reports is the loop that keeps your client work visible and billable. Work sessions and client reports require the Pro plan.
